FAO and WHO's Second International Conference on Nutrition

The Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2), an inclusive inter-governmental meeting on nutrition jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization, in cooperation with the High Level Task Force on the Global Food Security Crisis (HLTF), IFAD, IFPRI, UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank, WFP and the WTO, will be held at FAO Headquarters, in Rome, from 19-21 November 2014.

The high-level ministerial conference will propose a flexible policy framework to address today’s major nutrition challenges and identify priorities for enhanced international cooperation on nutrition and the key objectives of the ICN2 will be to:

APPG Meeting Weds 22 January - The Evolution of Home Grown School Feeding

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Agriculture & Food for Development and the Partnership for Child Development, Imperial College London are pleased to invite you to a meeting on the evolution of Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) and will specifically focus on exciting recent developments in HGSF research, policy and programming.

3rd Asia SHN Training Course

3rd Asia SHN Training Course, Bangkok, Thailand,  2 - 10 December, 2013

Following the success of the 2nd School Health & Nutrition (SHN) Training Course for government, United Nations and civil society staff in the Asian region earlier this year, Partnership for Child Development (PCD), Mahidol University and Japan Consortium for Global School Health Research are delighted to announce applications are now open for the 3rd Asia SHN Training Course. 

Hosted by Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, between 2 -10 December, 2013, the course will focus on the crucial topic of malnutrition; looking at the double burden of stunting and wasting, and under-nutrition among children as well as the growing issue of child obesity in Asia. Expert lectures and workshops on these topics will be given by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and PCD among others.

Premier Cours SNS de Courte Durée en Français – les demandes sont maintenant ouvertes

Suite à la tenue successive de neuf cours annuels sur le Renforcement des Programmes Modernes de Santé et Nutrition Scolaires (SNS) offerts aux pays anglophones d’Afrique, deux cours en Asie et en réponse à la demande des pays francophones de la Région, le Partenariat pour le Développement de l’Enfant (Partnership for Child Development, PCD), de l’Imperial College de Londres est heureux de vous faire part du premier cours en français offert en Afrique subsaharienne en collaboration avec l’Institut de Santé Et Développement (ISED) de l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, Sénégal. Le cours est prévu à Saly au Sénégal du 14 au 23 octobre 2013.

Pendant dix jours, les participants prendront part à la fois en classe et sur le terrain à des activités centrées sur les échanges de connaissances et des bonnes pratiques dans le cadre de l'expérience régionale. Des ateliers pratiques de planification et de cours sur la santé et la nutrition scolaires dispensés par des experts de même que de l'apprentissage sur le terrain dans le contexte sénégalais seront offerts.

2013 Africa SHN Short Course Applications Now Open

Participants on last year's courseFollowing the success of the school health and nutrition (SHN) and HIV prevention programmes course in Kilifi, Kenya last year, the Partnership for Child Development and partners are co-organising the 9th African SHN Course, which will be hosted by the Ghanaian Government, between 10 - 20 June 2013.

Issue in Focus - Nutrition in the School-Age Child

This year's course selected Issue in Focus is that of Nutrition in the School-Age Child and Adolescents. For ten days attendees will engage in both classroom and field based learning in which exchange of best practice and regional knowledge and experience is prioritised. 

How to Apply

Applications are now being accepted and must be submitted on or before the closing date of Sunday 12th May.

To apply please download an Application Form for the SHN Course. Please ensure you have filled in all the relevant details in the application form before sending this on to Alexis Palfreyman either electronically or by post. 

The course fee this year (which includes all tuition, accommodation, meals, and course materials and is exclusive of flights and personal expenses) is USD $1750.00. Course applicants may be sponsored by national, institutional or corporate donors and we are able to support applicants in seeking sponsorship.
