Orientation and Capacity Workshop for Farmer Based Organizations and the Media

As part of the Social Accountability Project (SAP), the GSFP is organizing an orientation and capacity building workshop for Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) and the Media on the GSFP policies and objectives including the SAP and the role of these two groups as partners in the implementation of the GSFP. All the ten regions of Ghana will be covered. The approach will be to assemble Farmers, Caterers and Agriculture Directors from the districts on one platform and assembling media personnel from various districts in each region on a separate platform for impact

The objectives the workshop

  • To sensitize FBOs on the programme Policy and objectives
  • To provide an opportunity to discuss role of FBOs in the GSFP
  • To provide a platform for FBOs to interact with Service Providers of the Programme
  • To strategize, foster new directions and energies for better impact in the effort to achieve the objectives of the programme

Review and Skills Building Workshop

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is organizing a training of trainers workshop under the Social Accountability Project (SAP) from the 13th to the 15th of April 2011. During the workshop, participants which include civil society organizations and staff of the GSFP will reflect and share social accountability experiences and practice and generate lessons learnt. Other objectives of the workshop include the review of social accountability tools and their applicability in the Ghanaian context, examine the context and influencing factors on the conduct of social accountability and ultimately develop action plans and commitments to engage with stakeholders in the GSFP.

The three-day workshop will be structured as follows:

Day One: Learning lessons and phasing forward; reviewing participants' experiences from the field in Social Accountability

Day Two: Concepts, context and conduct of Social Accountability in Ghana and the GSFP

Day Three: Methods and tools for Social Accountability, planning and commitments
