Impact of the GSFP on nutritional and health status of Ghanaian pupils – central region

School Feeding Programmes (SFPs) using locally produced foods have been identified as a contributing strategy to achieving the Millennium Development Goal number one, namely to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. Ghana is the first of ten countries on the African continent
implementing a New Partnership on Africa’s Development (NEPAD) SFP. One of the long-term objectives of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (Ghana SFP) is to contribute to poverty reduction and food security.

The aim of the MSc study was to determine the medium-term impact of the Ghana SFP on the nutrient intake from school meals and home food consumption as well as the impact on nutritional and health status of the schoolchildren. Download
